The Teshie Traditional Council has sternly cautioned illegal developers and encroachers on all parcel of lands belonging to the Teshie Stool.
The Secretary to the Traditional Authority stated that encroachers who are buying land from a private developer, Kofi Diame around the areas of Manet on the Spintex road, close to the Synagogue of All Nations Church belonging to Teshie Stool should be very careful.
He said those who are willing to buy land from the said developer must insist on getting the right documentations because “the Stool will not relax any longer and will embark on a vigorous investigation to expose Kofi Diame who is duping with fake documents.
Speaking to the Media, he stated how Kofi Diame, who happens to be a Voltarian is acquiring their lands and leasing them without their notice.
“We wonder why he (Kofi Diame) would sit on our land and then a whole stranger that is a Voltarian will come and take a whole stretch of our land and he will be granting it to people that we don’t even know anything about,” he said.
Mr Paul Akporh Sowah also stated the land which was reserved for a proper layout has been disorganized by the private investor adding that they are here to reclaim their land.
“If you see us this morning, we are here to reclaim our land. We don’t know anyone called Kofi Diame. Whatever Kofi Diame is doing on this land, we’re telling him today to come and see the family,” he said.
“The family does not know what he is doing here and I (Sowah) as Ga cannot go to Volta Region to claim a vast land like this and of course, in vantage areas.”
The Traditional rulers also expressed their disappointment over the land adding that, the police are using a blind eye over their cry.
“We are highly disappointed over the police because sometimes you report this issue to the police to come and make arrest but the moment they come and make the arrest, you don’t hear anything again so we’re telling the government to come into our aid with this issue.”
“The government should ask Kofi Diame what he’s doing on this land. We have better investors that can develop this place for us…this place is very close to the Spintex road, Teshie is known to be the center point of Accra where you can easily go to everywhere from here so, that doesn’t mean we don’t know what to do with our land. If we see any developer on our land again, we will mass up and come, the whole Teshie will come and take everybody away from here. We will sleep here, we will come here every day if he has the Land guards he thinks he can use them to frustrate us, No! enough is enough, we don’t need land guard on our land. Kofi Diame should come and tell us who gave him the land.”
He also averred that the land has been vested in the hands of Samanpa estate and that the investiture was done in 1998.
“We have all the registered documents so how come Kofi Diame took the Land from Samanpa Estate? he asked.
According to the Traditional rulers, they warned Kofi Diame about 5 years ago when he started developing their lands, claiming that Kofi Diame started demolishing building around the area.
“We don’t know where he got order from before demolishing the building. We contacted him but he could not tell us anything only that we went to court and injunction was placed on him. Even though the injunction is pending, we see development every day on our lands.”
He said, “the next action is to keep on coming here” when asked of their next action on the said land. We will make sure whoever is working on the land must put a halt to it and if the person doesn’t stop, then maybe the government will come and carry all of us away.”
The land, he said belongs to Teshie people and that they have been living on the land since 1710.
“We have borders that covers our land. We also have supreme court judgement that establish our possession of this place. There’s a 1953 judgement that demarcates our land and neighboring towns, Nungua and La so I don’t know who would come here and say our lands belongs to him,” he added.
