Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV of the Agave Traditional Area, with the support of his Divisional Wing Chiefs, on 30th April, 2025 paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Volta Regional Police Headquarters and the Sogakofe Divisional Police Headquarters.
Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV was in the company of Togbe Boatre VII, Torgbe Abordor VIII, Torgbe Kavi VI, Torgbe Yelu Keteni VII, Torgbe Anorba Sasraku IV, a representative of Togbe Vigbedor Agah V and other well wishers to welcome the new Volta Regional Police Commander, Mr. Akorli and wish him well at his new post.
Speaking on behalf of Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV, Togbe Boatre VII welcomed the Regional Commander and assured him of their support for his office.
Togbe Boatre VII used the opportunity to introduce the Togbega of Agave Traditional Area and explain the leadership structure of Agave state.
“In our Traditional structure, there is only one Togbega, and he is Togbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV. Below him are the Divisional Wing Chiefs. We have all the Wings present today except for Togbe Azilafu IV who has visited our ancestors” Togbe Boatre VII mentioned.
Regional Police Commander, Mr. Akorli expressed appreciation for the courtesy call and asked his able assisting officers to brief the meeting about the security concerns in the region.
The leadership of the Volta Regional Police Headquarters acknowledged that Chieftaincy matters were among the top issues in the region. Yet they were particularly impressed with the fact that Agave has maintained a peaceful posture despite the reports they have received.
The Regional Crime Officer present at the meeting acknowledged that there have been some reports to his office and he is working to ensure that the right procedure is followed and the right thing is done.
Following cordial discussions, Togbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV with his entourage later visited the Sogakope Police Divisional Headquarters. District PoliceCommander, Mr. Andam was present to welcome Togbega and his entourage.
“Every caller is a potential ally. We are open to all and we do not discriminate. We are friends in society. Everyone is family to us. You are aware of the processes and I sincerely welcome you to the Divisional Command on behalf of our leadership.
We do not do politics nor engage in Chieftaincy matters. If you see the police in town or in your area, it is normal procedure to maintain calm.
We will organise a MUSEC meeting to resolve issues. We will work with everyone as long as we all follow the laws and rules governing the country. Our doors are always open and we are for ensuring security” said District Police Commander Andam after pleasantries had been exchanged.
Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV thanked the police leadership and urged his followers to trust in the police to deliver justice for the state of Agave. He pledged his support, that with his leadership, they will be available to assist the police carry out their duties.
