A lawyer representing property owners at Regimanuel Gray Limited has accused some police officers of aiding land guards in unlawfully occupying lands belonging to his clients, despite multiple court rulings voiding their claims.
In a petition dated September 12, 2025, addressed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Agbesi Dzakpasu, counsel for Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Boatin and seven others, demanded the immediate withdrawal of police officers and armed men allegedly stationed on the company’s properties at East Airport.
According to the lawyer, the dispute originated from a possession order granted by the High Court on June 24, 2025, to one Benjamin Amartey Mensah, which authorized his agents to take control of portions of the land. The order, however, was vacated on August 13, 2025, after the court determined it had been improperly obtained.
Mr. Dzakpasi noted that an application for Stay of Execution filed by Mr. Mensah was also dismissed on September 3, 2025, affirming that the earlier possession order was null and void.
“Despite these clear rulings, Benjamin Amartey Mensah, acting through land guards and police officers, continues to unlawfully trespass on the properties of my clients,” the lawyer wrote, describing the continued occupation as an affront to the rule of law.
He called on the IGP to “ensure the removal of the police officers and land guards from the lands” and to restore peace and order within the estate community. The lawyer further indicated his clients’ intention to initiate contempt proceedings against those involved in the ongoing encroachment, naming Inspector Arhin and Inspector Malaika among the alleged offenders.
Copies of the petition were shared with key parties including the claimants, Regimanuel Gray Limited, and counsel for Mr. Amartey Mensah.
The petition deepens growing public concern over reports of security officers aiding private individuals in enforcing disputed land judgments, a trend that has repeatedly drawn condemnation from civil society groups.
Both Regimanuel Gray and affected homeowners say they have lost faith in the police’s neutrality in the matter and are calling for urgent intervention from the Police Administration and the Ministry of the Interior to prevent further escalation of tensions.
