The Prestea District Police Command has arrested four men including two serving military officers for their alleged involvement in an attempted armed robbery at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Obouhu, a suburb of Prestea.
Police say the suspects were part of a six-member gang that stormed the mining site on Sunday night, September 28, 2025, around 10:30 p.m. The group reportedly assaulted security guards and tried to break into the company’s gold room before officers moved in.
Two of the suspects managed to escape and remain at large, while the arrested men have been transferred to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command for further investigation.
The gang allegedly used a brand-new Toyota pickup truck, registered GN 6116-25, during the operation. Police have since impounded the vehicle.
Authorities have vowed to track down the remaining suspects and tighten security around mining concessions in the area.
