A group of Licenced Small-Scale miners who operates within some mining areas have expressed worries on the part of the Regional Police Command for allegedly ordering some of his men to engage in extortions of monies from them.
According to information gathered on the grounds by this paper, some two police personnel namely Seth and Kawani both stationed at the Western regional police command in Sefwi Wiawso, frequently lead the police patrol to the small-scale mining sites in some mining areas in the region in extorting monies saying they were sent by the regional crime officer and regional police commander for Western North.
This development according to the concerned licenced small-scale miners is tarnishing the image of the police service.
They are therefore appealing to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to launch an independent investigation into the alleged extortions on the part of the western north regional police command for action to be taken.
