Young innovators from across the Greater Accra Region are proving that age is no barrier to solving real-world problems. As part of the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP), pupils from several basic schools have developed creative STEM solutions to challenges affecting their schools and communities.
Participating teams include Envi Brigade from Blessed Clementina R.C. JHS, Family Trade from Arise Educational Foundation, Gesture from Star of the Sea R/C Basic School, Greengen from Blessed Clementina R.C. JHS, Innovepoch from Ashaiman No. 4 Junior High School, Smart Thinkers, Team Evergreen from Ayikuma Methodist Basic School, Team Nova from New Gbawe Experimental Basic 2, and Tech Explorers from Nungua R/C Basic School.
The teams have identified everyday challenges and transformed them into opportunities for innovation. Some have designed solutions to improve access to textbooks and learning materials, while others have focused on environmental sustainability, education, and community development through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Their projects demonstrate creativity, teamwork, and a strong commitment to improving the lives of others. The upcoming GSTEP Exhibition and Awards Ceremony will provide these young inventors with the opportunity to showcase their ideas to educators, industry leaders, policymakers, and the public.
These remarkable pupils remind us that the future of Ghana is bright. With curiosity, determination, and innovation, they are not only imagining a better tomorrow—they are building it today.
