Ghanaian luxury fragrance house Maison Yusif has launched “The Beast,” a bold new unisex fragrance designed to celebrate confidence, ambition, and African craftsmanship, as the company intensifies its push to position Ghana as a global producer of premium perfumes.

The fragrance was unveiled at a colorful ceremony held at the Pelican Hotel in Accra on Saturday, July 25, where patrons, fashion enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders gathered to witness the latest addition to the Maison Yusif collection.

Speaking to the media after the launch, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Maison Yusif Fragrance, Yusif Meizongo Jnr, said the unveiling of The Beast represents more than just the introduction of another perfume—it is a statement about Africa’s identity, creativity, and growing influence in the global luxury market.

Reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey from working as an Uber driver to building a premium fragrance brand, Meizongo expressed gratitude to God and encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to remain focused on their dreams.

Coming from being an Uber driver to this height, I can only thank God. I’m not exceptional, I’m not lucky; I’m just part of a bigger picture. Alhamdulillah, I thank God,” he said.

The CEO noted that the launch deliberately embraced African culture, with guests encouraged to wear traditional attire to reinforce the brand’s commitment to promoting African identity.

According to him, Maison Yusif seeks to redefine luxury by drawing inspiration from African heritage rather than imitating foreign trends.

I want the entire world to embrace Africa, the African culture, our traditions. That is why we specifically made the dress code traditional. Honestly, I’m tired of replicating everything the Western world does. We want the world to know that Africa is what it is, and Africa is the next big thing,” he stated.

Meizongo described the new fragrance as a proudly Ghanaian product handcrafted in Accra using world-class perfumery techniques.

When asked how he would introduce The Beast to a first-time customer, his response was simple but emphatic.

Maison Yusif proudly made in Ghana—that’s the best pitch I could give.”

Looking ahead, the entrepreneur said the company is focused on expanding across Africa and international markets while maintaining its distinct identity.

He stressed that Maison Yusif is not competing with other fragrance brands but is charting its own course as a niche African luxury perfume house.

Maison Yusif is not in competition with anyone. We are in our own race. We are a royal fragrance house, truly niche, proudly made in Ghana by a Ghanaian, from Ghana and in Ghana. In the next five to ten years, we look to conquer Africa and the world with our royal fragrances.”

We wanted to create a fragrance that was very dominant, and together with my creative team we came across the name ‘The Beast.’ It reflects the bold personality we wanted the fragrance to express.”

Although designed as a unisex fragrance, he noted that its scent profile leans toward the masculine.

Crafted for Presence

Maison Yusif describes The Beast as a fragrance created for individuals who command attention through quiet confidence rather than loud expression.

The perfume combines fresh top notes of bergamot, cardamom, oregano and black pepper with a heart of incense, amber, oud, sandalwood and vetiver, before settling into a rich base of oud, leather, patchouli, vanilla and tonka bean.

Produced as an extrait de parfum, The Beast is designed to last up to 24 hours on the skin and 72 hours on fabric, reinforcing its positioning as a premium luxury fragrance.

The company says every bottle is handcrafted in Accra and reflects Maison Yusif’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, modern perfumery and the promotion of African luxury on the global stage.
