The leadership of the Ghana Lotto Operators Association (GLOA), Private Lotto Operators (PLO) and Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG), has urged lotto writers to accept the 10% reduction in their commission whilst consultations with the National Lottery Authority (NLA) continue.
At a meeting organised to calm the nerves since CLAAG has already written to NLA to register their displeasure over the reduction, Executive Secretary of CLAGG, Kweku Duah-Tawiah explained that, the reduction of a whopping 10% in their income levels was indeed met by agitations from the writers amid the prevailing economic hardships.
He however explained that the situation leading to the reduction of the commission from 30 to 20% resulted in several incident of near altercations between Lotto Writers and their respective Agents.
“This coupled with numerous outpourings of angered writers expressing themselves through voice calls, WhatsApp and SMS messages to our offices and Executive Officers demanding for sustained nationwide demonstration against the reduction until such times that it will be reversed,” he noted.
According to Kweku Duah-Tawiah the Association hopes to seek an amicable solution to the problem with the active participation of GLOA.
He however gave the writers up till Friday, November 11, 2022 to return to them with any development.
Meanwhile the writers who were furious by the information expressed dissatisfaction at the leadership and indicated that, if operators are not willing to increase their commission from 30% to 40%, they must leave it at 30%, stressing that reducing it to 20% is a disservice to them looking at the current economic situation.
They chanted war songs and called for 40% increment or nothing else.
