Ace Anan Ankomah , the Managing Partner and Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice group has been named in Africa’s 30 Arbitration Powerlist 2020.
The list is a new initiative – spearheaded by the Africa Arbitration Academy, Africa Arbitration and the Association of Young Arbitrators – to celebrate leaders that have helped to shape the development of arbitration in Africa in 2020. It is supported by a range of leading arbitral institutions and organizations. These include: the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch), Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre (LACIAC), Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration, Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Centre, Lagos Court Of Arbitration, Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators, East Africa International Arbitration Centre, AfricArb, and Resolve (Tanzania).
Ace Anan Ankomah is a Managing Partner and head of the Litigation, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Practice at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah. Ace also teaches at the Ghana School of Law, where he conducts the Legal Writing and Editing Skills seminar.
He is the author of Is There Not A Cause… to Rant?, a collection of essays on socio-political issues in Ghana seen through the lenses of a lawyer. Is There Not A Cause… to Rant? is his first book and was published by Dakpabli and Associates.
Ace was called to the Ghana Bar in 1992 and holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in International Taxation (Queen’s University, Canada) and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) from University of Ghana. He is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and also served on the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) for three years.
Ace is an old student of Mfantsipim Secondary School, where he won top academic awards including the Senior Scholar Award and the K. A. Busia Award. He also writes music and plays several musical instruments. He served as Director of the gospel music group, Joyful Way Inc. Music & Productions for several years.
