The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Upper Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region, Mr. Felix Nartey Odjao has rubbished the allegations levelled against him by some youth in the area.
The Coordinator and convener of the youth, Sakina and George Tetteh have accused the DCE of being accused of fostering disunity in the party, failing to support the former Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Tetteh, resulting in the loss of the parliamentary seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Candidate, Bismark Tetteh Nyarko and pursuing conflict of interest.
But the DCE addressing a presser in a rebuttal described the allegations as malice and propaganda orchestrated by his opponents who are also lobbying to become the DCE to tarnish his image.
The Asesewa DCE indicated that the accusations started in 2017 when he applied to be the DCE of the area and has disclosed that his party ID card has to be picked by George Gbli, the Party first vice chairman before he was cleared.
According to him, they are doing the bidding for Dominic Ankrah who is keen to land the DCE job in President Akufo-Addo’s second term of office.
Despite admitting he is not afraid of competition he indicated the aforementioned people acts are propagated by some people who are keen for the position.
“If they are claiming that up to 2012 I was a member of the NDC, I have never been an NDC. There are claims also that I am awarding contracts for myself and such allegation boarders on our procurement processes, for your information these are documents to check. I wish they had mentioned a specific company or organizations to which the contracts have been awarded. Contracts are not awarded to individuals but they are awarded to an organization and if they have one, they should mention”
“I have not awarded a contract to myself neither a company. I don’t have any company that will even amount to a breach of our procurement processes and conflict of interest and so I have not done any of such a thing” he said.
Reacting to George Tetteh claims that he has mild his integrity and that he is not in touch with the leadership of the constituency, he has quizzed him of what he has done to mild his integrity.
“We need to bear in mind that Upper Manya is far larger than a small click, a group of people in a small area so that when that small group of people dissatisfied with somebody that becomes an issue of the entire Upper Manya, No Upper Manya is bigger than that and so if they want to some sampling or find out about me, they should do a thorough research,” he said.
He explained that “I am not afraid of competition; I have engaged myself in several competitive activities. As a family, this is intra politics we do not need to marline, crucify each other to win and become an appointee in the government we don’t need that. Let us compete as people of one family. I see this as malicious and out of desperation because someone would not be the DCE at all cost. Let us be informed that there are many other opportunities in the party it is not just being a DCE that makes you serving NPP and that of Ghana”.
He has therefore advised them to desist from such uncalled-for behaviour that will undermine the progress of the party as they set sight on winning the 2024 elections.
“They are not God and they are Akufo-Addo, the President has more information on us than they think and I am sure that at the right time the right decision will be taken by his Excellency and one of us will be thee DCE for Upper Manya district” he concluded.
