President Akufo Addo, who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to file his completed nomination forms at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC) today Tuesday, October 06, for the 2020 Presidential Election.
General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu disclosed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Presidential Candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will file his nomination for the 2020 Presidential Election race tomorrow, Tuesday.
According to him, the party is done with the requirement of getting two people in every district to support the filing and also the introductory letter and the filing fees are ready for the President to file his nomination tomorrow at the Electoral Commission (EC) as the constitution requires of every political party.
Speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ Morning Show the NPP Chief Scribe said the party created a fund for people to contribute towards the Presidential filing fees.
“With regard to the money involved in the Presidential filing of nomination, a lot of people have come contributing towards his filing fees and you know the Presidential election filing fees is Ghc 100,000,” he stated.
Touching on the Parliamentary Election filing fees, the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) said that all their Parliamentary Candidates will also benefit from the fund.
He stressed that the party has received an appreciable amount and by close of the day, they will be able to know the total amount they had received so far to see if there will be the need to add up in order to pay Ghc2.75 million, thus, Ghc10,000 per constituency for all the Parliamentary Candidates and Ghc 100,000 for the Presidential Candidate.
He mentioned that due to the filing of nomination for the parliamentary candidates, the NPP set up a committee called Verification Committee led by Frank Davis to check the eligibility of candidates that have been selected in all the 275 constituencies.
“The committee is done with its work and presented its report,” he added.
He reiterated that every challenge associated with those who did not receive codes due to their usual taxes issues have been resolved; thus, the Parliamentary Candidates are ready to also file their nominations for the Parliamentary Election.
