…But Delegates Offer Unflinching Support

An aspirant in the NPP Akuapim South Constituency primaries slated for June 20, 2020 Kwame Ofori-Gyau, has debunked claims that he is pitching delegates and party supporters against the party just to win the upcoming primaries.
Recent media publications have sought to suggest that Kwame Ofori-Gyau has been waging a war against the Akufo-Addo government.
It was claimed that Ofori-Gyau and his campaign team is sending wrong information about the government to the people in the area, considered to be a stronghold of the NPP.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Kwame Ofori-Gyau, he expressed disgust at the claims and indicated that the fight for the Parliamentary candidature of the party is a family affair and that since he is contesting on the ticket of the NPP, it is just absurd for people to claim he will “destroy” the government in the face of all the great achievements it has made.
According to him, his success as a future MP for the constituency will largely depend on the achievements of the Akufo-Addo led administration hence; there is every reason for him to tout the good works of the government wherever he goes.
He averred that he has never granted media interviews where he deliberately refused to talk about the successes of the government in the area as claimed.
Mr Ofori-Gyau noted that he has been in constant touch with the people at the grassroots and his messages fall in line with what the government is doing to improve livelihoods, build the economy, and establish resilient institutions and building a Ghana beyond Aid.
Meanwhile, as the primaries draws closer, The New Crusading Guide embarked on a fact-finding mission in Akuapim South Constituency, where interactions with delegates and some supporters revealed that Mr Ofori-Gyau has over the period been consistent with his messages to the people with government’s policies and programs top on his agenda.
According to the majority of polling station executives, Mr Kwame Ofori-Gyau’s style of campaign has been welcomed by all and that he was able to win the hearts of the majority of the delegates as the party zooms into the primaries.
According to them, the allegations that Kwame Ofori-Gyau has been destroying the image of the government in his bid to win the coming primaries are false.
They averred that as delegates belonging to the great NPP, they will not allow any candidate to come to them with issues that do not promote the image of the president and the works of the government.
According to the delegates, it will just be fair of all candidates in the race to allow free and fair contests and do away with such fabrications.
“Look, these fabrications will not help. We don’t need this at this time. We will rather urge those trying to foment such troubles by laying these allegations against Kwame Ofori-Gyau to desist from that,” a delegate appealed.
“Yes, it is true that some communities in the constituency are not yet connected to the national electricity grid, we are also aware of government’s measures to ensure that those communities are connected in the shortest possible time. Kwame Ofori-Gyau gas never said anywhere that this situation is part of the indication that the government has failed the people,” another delegate noted.
Interestingly, the NPP delegates said they see him as the coming ‘messiah’ who will bring the required development to their communities irrespective of whichever party is in government.
“We need development and for that matter, we are going to vote for a candidate who will be able to bring development to our communities,” they said.
