The Western Regional campaign team for Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng has turned around to declare their support for Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming presidential primaries on November 4, 2023.
Alan Kyerematen, who was one of the main contenders in the NPP flagbearership race officially withdrew from the upcoming contest on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, citing the intimidation of his delegates and agents during the party’s Super Delegates’ Conference.
Speaking at a press conference to officially declare their new stands with Team Bawumia, the leader of the Western Regional Campaign team for Alan, Mr. Bruce Amartey, popularly called ‘Mantse’, said, his team members have resolved to support Dr. Bawumia because they believe he is the one who could lead the NPP to ‘break the 8’.
Mr. Amartey stated that they had really and truly supported ‘Alan Cash’ because they believed in his vision for the party and country but since he decided not to continue the race, they had no choice than to take a decision that would also protect their own political future as young men and women from the West.
Again, he emphasized that the Vice President is the only person at the moment who can help the NPP win the 2024 General elections because of his track record, affability and his humility.
Former Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira in the Western Region, Catherine Abelema Afeku, who was a key member of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign team had earlier pledged her support for the candidature of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the November 4, main primaries of the NPP when Alan decided not to contest again.
The Regional Coordinator of Alan’s campaign, Chris Larbi on his part also noted that the followers of the former Trade Minister were taken aback when news reached them that Mr. Kyerematen had withdrawn from the NPP presidential race.
