The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Richard Asiedu has been accused of allegedly scheming against the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah.

The alleged schemes, include masterminding the appointments of some individuals who allegedly, vowed to ensure that Mr. Migyimah was utterly disgraced and embarrassed ahead of the 2024 elections into certain key positions in the constituency.

The allegations were levelled by a group of concerned branch executives, coordinators and grassroots members in Assin Central during a press conference held at the constituency office on Saturday.

The group also cited Regional NADMO Director, Kwesi Dawood and Assin Central Constituency Chairman, Baba Gariba as key individuals involved in the alleged manipulations to ensure that Migyimah would be unpopular even before the next elections.

Further and better particulars

Addressing the media, the group alleged that both Lawrence Darkwa (Moony) and Kennedy Owusu Adjei acted overtly to soil the reputation of Megyimah during the 2024 electioneering campaign period with the circulation of purported naked videos of the candidate.

Kennedy Owusu Adjei was alleged to have openly stated that “I will collapse the NDC in Assin Central” through the spewing of unsavoury comments to tarnish the image of Shaibu Megyimah who was the party’s parliamentary candidate.

They alleged that as part of his sinister plot and hatred for the party’s then candidate, the newly appointed NADMO Director for Assin Foso Municipality, Lawrence Darkwa (Moony) also vowed never to mention Nurein Shaibu Migyimah’s name on any radio platform.

Despite being a party communicator, Lawrence Darkwa was alleged to have openly stated that he “will never wear a T-shirt bearing the MP’s image or name. This same behavior has been exhibited by Chairman Baba Gariba and the Constituency Secretary, Sadique Yeboah Broni”. The group said.

Chairman Asiedu suspends Migyimah

It would be recalled that with few months to the 2024 elections, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah who was the candidate for the NDC, was mysteriously suspended by the regional executives led by Prof Asiedu under bizarre and frivolous circumstances.

However, the trump up charges were later dropped by the National Executives Committee of the party and reinstated Nurein Shaibu Migyimah to lead the NDC while Prof Asiedu was suspended for his frivolous action.

Migyimah defiles the odds

Despite what they termed as coordinated machinations against Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, the group said, he defiled all the odds, fought hard and unprecedentedly, won the Assin Central parliamentary seat for the NDC.

This achievement, the aggrieved party members explained, gave stronger indications that their MP, Shaibu Migyimah “has proven himself through hard work, humility, and dedication” and would therefore, protect him from internal saboteur

Weird appointments

To their utter surprise, the group alleged that the regional chairman, under weird circumstances, has been spearheading and supervising the complete neglect of all top party members who fought hard for Migyirmah to win the seat for the party.

They alleged that rather, “these individuals [alleged saboteurs] are busy creating factions, promoting known opponents of the MP, and attempting to side line those who genuinely supported him”.

However, the concerned group alleged that some key party figures have deliberately conspired to appoint certain individuals into sensitive positions at the Assembly so that they could further achieve their sinister agenda against the MP.

They cited the appointments of the two aforementioned individuals who allegedly orchestrated a plan to make sure that the NPP parliamentary candidate rather won at the expense of the NDC’s Migyimah as clear example.

It must be stated that both Lawrence Darkwa and Kennedy Owusu Adjei who have been accused by the group, have been appointed as the NADMO Director and Deputy respectively for Assin Foso Municipality despite what the group termed as their anti-party behaviours.

This situation, the group further insisted, was plotted by certain individuals within the party hierarchy who seemed more interested in personal power and division than party unity and progress and have therefore, made Nurein Shaibu Migyimah their soft target.

Caution.

The concerned Branch Executives, Coordinators, and grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Assin Central warned that they would not remain silent while their MP was attacked from within.

“We are issuing this public warning to all those working against Hon. Nurein Shaibu Migyimah: The grassroots are watching, and we will not allow your selfish agenda to destroy the gains we have made.

The people of Assin Central voted for change, for unity, and for progress. Any attempt to destabilize our MP’s efforts or to divide the party from within will be met with strong resistance”. They emphasised.
