Isaac Akomeng Asamoah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atiwa West Assembly in the Eastern Region has outlined several achievements he has chalked up since he was appointed the DCE of the area.
Akomeng, appointed in 2018 in the NPP’s first term in office believes he has lived up to expectations.
Speaking after presenting 10,000 pieces of a nose mask and 10,000 pieces of sanitizer to the GRPTU chapter in the area, the District Health Directorate, and also Religious bodies in the area.
He said the PPE is part of the Assembly’s contributions to support the local bodies to fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
Giving an overview of his achievements in the past years, he indicated he has constructed six Getfund schools in areas like Kwabeng, Emuoso, Senkroguase, Akwabuoso, and Abomosu, among others.
He continued that, Junior High School (JHS) has been constructed with the internally generated fund by the assembly, adding that eleven classroom blocks at Wapiti were rehabilitated.
He said the assembly has been able to reshape of roads, construct of classroom blocks, improvement in health facilities, provision water, among others.
Touching on health, he disclosed a chunk of CHIP compounds has been constructed whereas the Ministry of Education embarks on the construction of health centers in some areas. He said the Kwabeng health center is being transformed into a polyclinic.
Mr. Akomeng added that a total of 29 mechanized boreholes have been constructed in the area which has subsequently ward of the water crisis in every community.
According to him, plans are on board to construct toilet facilities for almost all the towns in the President’s second term in office.
He said if the President considers his performances and reappointed him again, the toilet facilities will be constructed in every district, adding that any deplorable school block in the area will be constructed into normal standards.
On agriculture, he indicated the district has done justice to planting for food and jobs together with the planting for export and rural development.
According to him, the assembly and the community both planted 30 acres of palm nut which is a project from the World Bank and also planting 10 acres of cocoa. He hinted about planting 20 acres of palm nut next year.
He disclosed that the aforementioned projects are labor-intensive and given that they will construct 5 kilometers road on labor-intensive from Akyem Nkurakan to Akyem Mampong in the bid to get a beneficial road network tee.
Mr. Akomeng despite expressing he has a warm relationship with the traditional rulers in the area he indicated he has some chieftaincy issues and is of the view that has been his problem in the district.
