Awaso Royal International Academy has been crowned champions of the second edition of the Western North Regional Independence Day Inter-Districts Junior High School Quiz competition held at Bibiani.
The school garnered 41 points to beat six other schools in the grand final after a keenly contested competition.
The competition was sponsored by KINROSS Chirano Mining Company Limited as part of activities to mark the 64th Independence Day celebration.
Enchico Demonstration School from the Aowin Municipal came second with 35 points, followed by Akontombra Anglican Junior High school with 33 points.
English and Arabic Junior High School at Sefwi-Asawinso, representing Wiawso Municipal came fourth with 28 points with defending champions, Lamplighter Community Junior High School from Bia West fifth with 26 points.
Adabokrom D/A Junior High school from the Bia West and St Paul’s Junior High school representing Suaman District recorded 17 and 16 points to get the sixth and seventh positions, respectively.
The winning school took away a multi-purpose printer, laptop, educational materials, tablets and certificate.
Enchico Demonstration School and Akontombra Angican Junior High Schools, first and second runners up received a laptop, plaques, medals and certificate each.
All participants in the first, second and third placed took away a tablet each.
Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu, Western North Regional Education Director, commended the organizers and participating schools for making the programme a success.
He gave the assurance that his outfit would continue to support in all educational Programmes within the Region.
Nana Osei Nkwantabisa, Nkoauohene of Lower Axim Traditional Area, Executive Managing Partner, Planning Committee for the Programme expressed satisfaction in the delivery by participants and asked them to keep it up.
He said the competition, aside from its educational benefits, was to ensure unity among the various Districts in the Region.
Reverend Father Paul Agyemang – Duah Mensah, Director of the Winning school congratulated the contestants for the excellent performance and for making Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai Municipal proud.
He commended the teachers for their commitment to ensuring the school won the competition.
