The Kusaug Youth Movement, a youth group within the Bawku Municipality, has called on the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress to declare its position on the ongoing Bawku conflict.
Speaking at a press conference, on 1st March 2023, the group called out the hypocrisy of some members of the NDC for statements made on the floor of parliament which they “find to be in very bad taste and inimical to the peace processes in Bawku”.
Making reference to statements made by Hon. Sam George, Hon. Murtala Mohammed and the NDC MP for Nalerigu, on the floor of Parliament, the group asserts that some NDC MPs have called to question the legitimacy of Zugraan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II; a move the group considers an insult to the Bawku Skin and the authority of the Bawku Naba. They have consequently demanded the leadership of the NDC to come clear on their stance on the Bawku issue. That should the leadership of the NDC fail to dissociate from the comments made by the said MPs, the group shall consider same the view of the Party in Parliament and advice itself accordingly.
