The Concerned Youth of Fanteakwa North and the Begoro Youth Association in the Eastern Region have accused their DCE, Charles OwareTweneboah of being incompetent and rendering bad leadership which is delaying the progress of the District.
According to the youth, the District is facing challenges such as poor sanitation, bad leadership, lack of security, lack of Market Centers, unemployment among the youth. Besides there is no clear guidelines to curb the situation which they can conclude that their District chief executive has failed the government and his subjects and under no circumstances does he deserve re-nomination as a District chief executive of Fanteakwa North.
They also claimed the DCE has failed his people and the youth of Begoro are unable to contain him here again as the District Chief executive going forward.
Addressing a presser, at Begoro, the group in a statement issued and signed by Nana Yaw AmpemDarkoAmponsah President, Obiba J. K, Secretary, Staph Ahmed, and Director of Operations called on the President, the chief of staff, the Vice President, the Okyenhene and the Regional minister to rescue Begoroman from continuously going down the drain.
The youth lamented that they are not timid or lazy people as some session of the people have suggested rather the challenges confronting them as people of Begoro and the District as a whole keep widening without any measures put in place to curb the situation because of an incompetent leader at hand.
“Our District Chief Executive has been sleeping for the past four years and there is no hope that he can wake up from his slumber very soon to tackle the numerous problems affecting his people. We can boldly say without any reservations that, Begoro is in a mess and nothing seems to be working out to better the lives of the people” the statement.
They stated that ” Our main road leading to the hospital gets flooded with a huge chunk of Plastics and polythene bags and the mind-boggling aspect of it is that we have lived with this over a decade without an antidote. Very soon when the rain starts we shall record huge numbers of cholera cases which isn’t synonymous with the people of Begoro and Fanteakwa North District”.
The statement alleged that “Our Chiefs know the bad leadership we are having in Begoro yet some of them whom we believed could have stood by the people have Nicodemus taken GH¢ 100.00 as a guarantee for signing a petition to the Jubilee House for reappointment of the disappointed DCE who even knows that he has failed the government and his people. We are humbling telling some of the chiefs that took the money to return it because we don’t need this bad leadership again in Begoro and Fanteakwa North”.
Furthermore, Unemployment among the youth and unclear guidelines to help empower the upcoming generation is a serious threat to the stability of Begoroman.
They said the youth in Begoro lives in a hopeless environment with no possibility of a better life.
” It saddens our heart that most of our colleagues out of frustrations have resulted to the use of drugs as a means of forgetting the hopeless environment within which they live. Their dreams to become or develop their talent have not seen the light of day due to poor leadership in Begoro” they added.
However, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa North in the Eastern Region, Charles OwareTweneboah, on his behalf denied the allegations made against him the concerned him.
According to him, the Concern Youth are been back by his opponents who are also lobbying for the DCE bid, hence finding all means to defame him.
He expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the opportunity given to him to serve as Chief Executive for the area and thereby listed his achievement in the area of education, roads, health, infrastructure amongst others.
According to him, under his leadership, all the over 140 communities within the District jurisdiction have experienced and benefitted from the unprecedented developmental achievements chalked by the New Patriotic Party’s government in the last four years.
He added that, under his leadership, they have benefited from good roads on which you traveled to Begoro from Osiem, the numerous schools, water projects, community centers, descent market structures, the efforts to mitigate the Fulani menace, and many others you have witnessed in other villages.
Touching on issues of COVID-19, he said his outfit together with the Traditional Council and stakeholders have done very well in educating the public on the virus and also implemented stiffer punitive measures, and also ensure the security system is working in the District.
He, however, appealed to the public to disregard the claims made by the concerned Youth.
