Sports Infrastructure expert , Alhaji Salifu Sinkare, has revealed that local pitch contractors, Blaze Investment , has the capacity and the technical know- how to install modern and FIFA approved Hybrid pitches at all the major stadia in Ghana .
This statement comes on the back of Ghana’s failure to provide the required facility for the CAF Category C matches leading to Ghana having to play the immediate AFCON Qualifiers outside of the country.
Ghana’s five major Stadia Accra, Kumasi, Esipong, Tamale and Cape Coast all fall short of the standards for major Senior National Team Games.
Key among the things that must be fixed for CAF to review the ban on the Accra and Kumasi stadia are the pitches, media centres, dressing rooms, safe zones among others.
In the midst of the worries, Sports Infrastructure expert Alhaji Salifu Sinkare has provided some hopes after revealing that his firm Blaze Investment has the capacity to renovate all stadia in the country to meet the standards for any level of International Matches including the installation of FIFA approved hybrid pitches.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Metro Sports show, the expert advised that following the difficulty in maintaining the Natural Grass pitches and the quest to catch up with modernity, the way to go is the Hybrid Pitch.
“The ministry must consider the installation of hybrid pitches in Accra and Kumasi as it has the quality to contain the pressure that we put on the stadia in Accra and Kumasi. Let me also add that we at Blaze Investment have the capacity to lead the renovation of our major stadia to meet the requirements including the installation of a FIFA approved hybrid pitch’’.
The National Sports Authority recently announced the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for major renovation works as the Sports Ministry and Government put in efforts to fix the facility for CAF consideration.
