A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman for Bosome Freho constituency, Mr Yaw Amoah Gyamih has filed a Writ at the High Court in Kumasi seeking an Injunction to restrain Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh from contesting the Bosome Freho constituency primaries.
The Plaintiff/Applicant Yaw Amoah Gyamih, in his Statement of Case indicated that the Defendant/Respondent, Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh does not hail from Bosome Freho Constituency against Article 94 of the 1992 Constitution.
He stated that, the Defendant/Respondent is not a known and active member of the party for at least two years as provided in the Constitution of the NPP and that the 1st Defendant/Respondent is a native of Akosombo in the Eastern region and as such cannot be an eligible Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho constituency.
“That the 1st the Defendant/Respondent is preparing feverishly to take part in the vetting process to be conducted by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Defendants/Respondents (Constituency Chairman, Regional Chairman and National Chairman) and if not restrained, an unqualified candidate would be imposed on the Bosome Freho Constituency in the event that he goes through the vetting process successfully.”
He also noted that, is the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Defendants/Respondents are not restrained, they may allow the 1st Defendant/Respondent to participate in vetting process in breach of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
The Plaintiff also averred that greater hardship and injustice shall be caused to the Bosome Freho constituency if the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Defendants/Respondents are not restrained from allowing the 1st Defendant/Respondent to participate in the vetting process and the Plaintiff/Applicant eventually wins his case.
