The Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) has called for the arrest and investigation of the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, following a violent attack on officers of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) at Bronikrom near Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Bureau condemned the assault, describing it as a blatant obstruction of law enforcement officers performing their lawful duties.
The incident reportedly occurred during an anti-galamsey operation, where the MP is alleged to have led a group of men who attacked the NAIMOS task force. The assault, according to the BPS, resulted in property damage and posed a serious risk to the lives of public officials and military personnel involved in the operation.
The BPS has urged the Ghana Police Service to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter and ensure that Hon. Addo and all those involved are arrested and interrogated.
The organisation further stressed that holding public officials accountable for such acts is essential to upholding the rule of law and protecting state institutions from political interference.
