A group within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made up of members, sympathisers and faithfuls within the Juaboso constituency of the Western North Region are appealing to the National Executive Committee of the NPP to call to order the NPP Chairman for Juaboso Mr Affum Kroko for making the party unattractive and making the government unpopular because of his own selfish interest.
The appeal was made through the Western North Regional Minister, Hon Richard Obeng, the District Chief Executive for Juaboso, Hon Godfred Kwabena Agyei and a Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission who was the 2020 NPP parliamentary candidate for Juaboso, Hon Martha Kwayie Manu.
According to the group, Mr Affum Kroko who double as the elected assembly member for Boizan electoral area, has intentionally been harassing small scale miners within by extorting monies from them with the idea to prevent national security task force team from coming for operations.
The spokesperson for the group Akwasi Bonsu a very staunch NPP member in the Juaboso constituency hinted to this paper that, the move by the Juaboso NPP constituency chairman has hatched a very “criminal” agenda to make both the party and the government unpopular.
Akwasi Bonsu claimed also that, the Juaboso NPP chairman has also been meddling himself in Chieftaincy issues within Boizan where he is currently the assembly member, a situation which the group sees as an avenue of creating problems for the party and spoiling the chances and fortunes of the party to wrestle the parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which has done nothing better when they were in power.
The NPP group within the Juaboso constituency with its spokesperson, Akwasi Bonsu further disclosed that the former DCE for Juaboso, Hon Martha Kwayie Manu worked so well to help execute some key developmental projects into the district during her 4-years tenure in office which the current DCE, Hon Godfred Kwabena Agyei is also continuing to supplement the good achievement by his predecessor which has transformed the district so for the NPP constituency chairman, Mr Affum Kroko to take undue advantage to harass and extort monies from small scale miners because of the chairmanship position.
“It is a clear indication that he is sabotaging and blocking the chances of the next NPP parliamentary candidate for Juaboso to wrestle the seat from the NDC come 2024.”
Akwasi Bonsu made a further disclosure to this paper that the NPP members, sympathisers and faithfuls have also decided to campaign and vote against Mr Affum Kroko in the upcoming District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections since he is seeking for re-election.
The NPP group within the Juaboso constituency through its spokesperson, Akwasi Bonsu have vowed to vote for the NDC man to unseat, Mr Affum Kroko because of his agenda against his own political party and government.
By this, they are appealing to the top hierarchy of the NPP to call Mr Affum Kroko to order to immediately put an end to the harassment on the part of the small-scale miners within the constituency and meddling himself into Chieftaincy issues in Sefwi Boizan.
