A group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Weija – Gbawe in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to nominate the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Patrick K.B. Kumor again because of his abysmal performance whiles in office.
The group is calling for his removal from office for non-performance and requested the President not to renew the mandate of the MCE if he wants to expedite development in the community because he has failed to perform to the expectation of the people he claims to be serving.
They accused the MCE of financial malfeasance and neglect of the party members within the Municipality. They alleged that the MCE, both in conduct and in speech fueled factionalism by selectively working with few preferred party executives.
The group accused Patrick Kumor of sidelining them and disregarding party structures in the discharge of his duties.
Spokesperson to the group, Nii Kwartei Quartey said the abysmal performance is obvious that Patrick Kumor cannot perform hence need to be shown the exit since he has not been able to champion infrastructural development to the area.
The group also warned the Weija Asafoatse Nii Ayi Pampanku I to stay clear out of their way, according to them anytime they plan to embark on any plan to drum home their point, he intervenes and calls on them to exercise restraint, they believe he gets some financial as well as other inducement packages from the MCE and the Member of Parliament (MP),Tina Mensah hence his constant support for the two.
They warned that this time around his interventions won’t be heeded to because they have had enough and believe it’s time for a more competent grassroots party person to be nominated and appointed for the MCE position for Weija-Gbawe.
They mentioned the following as potential MCE’s, Afriyie, Philip, Blue boy, Brother, Fataw, Yaw Prempeh, Adu Boahene, Bekoe, Area Mama, Seth and Quinoo among several others.
They also expressed their disappointment in the Member of Parliament for Weija -Gbawe for what they described as the neglect of party executives as she has failed to offer help to them and the youth of the party who are in dire need of help. “Tina Mensah and Patrick Kumor should tell us who amongst the party executives as well as the grassroots whom they have helped”. They stated.
They said during the last primaries Tina ensured that Quinoo and blue boy were disqualified because of her quest to go unopposed and this brought in its wake some fragmentation within the rank and file of the party.
In a related development assembly members have indicated they have regretted supporting him to become the MCE. they have vowed that in the unlikely event that Patrick Kumor is nominated again for the position they will reject his nomination as the MCE for the municipality.
They have vowed that if he is brought 100 times, they will reject him a hundred time.
“The MCE betrayed our collective resolve to develop our municipality and constituency”, they asserted.
According to them Patrick Kumor’s leadership at the assembly has been the worst in the assembly’s history, they further disclosed that they have not received what is due them (sitting allowance) ever since he assumed office.
“We have submitted petitions to the appropriate offices for the removal of the MCE. We want someone who can pursue the government’s agenda of massive development at the local levels”, They stressed.
Meanwhile, several attempts to get the MCE to comment on the matter proved futile, as he constantly rejected calls to his mobile phone.
