After series of publications by this Newspaper citing the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and it’s assign/agent for falsification of documents, procurement breaches, conflict of interest and evasion of taxes in the matter of the nine ‘scrap’ buses bought for the Division-1 Clubs, the football governing body has failed to respond or attempt to exonerate itself of all the accusations afore mentioned.
The deafening silence of the GFA on these serious matters appears to be a tacit admission of guilt meanwhile the President of the Football Association(FA) Kurt Okraku is parading all over the place claiming that “GFA is the best organized and most trustworthy sports institution in Ghana”.
This paper had initially written officially to the FA secretariat and copied the FA President nearly a month ago asking for basic information on whether the nine Division-1 buses were over-aged and that documents were falsified to avoid penalties at the Port amongst other matters but the FA practically refused to respond.
Rather, the FA directed a certain Michael Osekre who introduced himself as the Chief of Staff to President Kurt Okraku to speak to this reporter on the matter.
However, tried as this reporter did to meet Mr. Osekre for answers or counter documents, it proved futile after several attempts so the stories had to run and it’s unfortunate that the FA’s posture seems to suggest that they owe nobody explanation and can’t be touched.
This kind of posturing can be described in no uncertain terms as shameless on the part of the GFA.
Meanwhile, it’s the same Chief of Staff(Mr. Osekre) of the FA President Kurt Okraku whose company(Freightgistics) was used to import these ‘scrap’ buses at inflated cost without going through tender.
… More to come
