The Executives of The New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency have denied deleting names of 600 polling station executives from the constituency album.
This is in response to claims made by a group calling itself the “Concerned Youth of NPP in Dome Kwabenya Constituency”.
A statement signed by the Constituency Chairman, Robert Osei Bonsu, and the Acting Constituency Secretary, Otu-Addo, indicated that the allegations were “untenable and fabricated” to tarnish the image of the constituency executives.
The statement explained that the constituency album was not tampered with and that the names of all polling station executives were intact.
The statement revealed that the group, Concerned Youth of NPP in Dome Kwabenya Constituency, had been making similar allegations since 2022.
The executives stated that they had challenged the group to provide evidence to support their claims, but they had failed to do so.
Specifically, the executives asked the group to provide a list of the 600 names allegedly deleted from the album, as well as proof of different albums used in the elections.
However, the group failed to provide the requested evidence.
The statement also addressed allegations that the constituency executives manipulated the polling station elections to favor their preferred candidates.
The executives stated that the elections were free and fair, and that the winners were duly elected by the delegates.
The statement explained that the polling station election committees were constituted by the national party leadership and comprised representatives from the national, regional, and constituency levels of the party.
Furthermore, the statement revealed that the group’s allegations were not only baseless but also motivated by a desire to destabilize the party.
The executives stated that the group’s leader, Alhaji Ibrahim, had contested and lost the Electoral Area Coordinators’ election, and that his actions were aimed at causing confusion and disaffection within the party.
The statement also touched on the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
The executives stated that despite the challenges faced by the party, the constituency had delivered a credible performance.
However, the executives acknowledged that there were lessons to be learned from the elections and that the party would work to address its internal differences and unite its members ahead of future elections.
