The Member of Parliament for the Dormaa East Constituency, Paul Apraku Twum Barimah, has commended the Managing Director of The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Sibik Mahama for the great transformation taking place in the downstream electricity production company in terms of increase in revenue generation
According to Honorable Twum Barimah, figures released recently shows that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has increased its annual revenue from 450 million cedis to 1.2 million cedis after the power distribution company adopted digital systems in revenue collection. He indicated that ECG’s annual revenue generation increased in an unprecedented manner from 450 million cedis to 1.2 million cedis after the power distribution company went digital.
“This is a state agency that was struggling in its operations and making losses every time. This is a company that was experiencing power distribution losses; a company that was finding it even difficult to identify customers and power users to bill them and collect revenue. This is a company that recorded a constant revenue losses monthly for four years. Today, all these have changed since the adoption of the digital system of revenue collection and power purchases”, he stated
ECG has seen a significant improvement in revenue generation over the past few years as a result of the digitization agenda introduced into their systems. The power distribution company was making 450 million cedis monthly, but after the digitization drive, the revenue has gone up to over 1.2 million cedis an indication of how the digitization drive has reduced corruption and increased monthly revenue.
“You can only attribute the significant transformation and turnaround to good and visionary leadership. When the leader is good and focused, the company operates successfully and generates revenue for the state. And that is exactly what the new managing director of ECG is doing and we must support him with the needed political will to thrive”, honorable Twum Barimah added.
