Ghana’s Ministry of Education has officially launched a television station to promote teaching and learning as part of the education transformation agenda.
The station christened “Channel MOE” would focus on transmitting quality education materials to both students, teachers, parents, and other viewers across the globe.
Launching the station, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education , was excited that the channel had finally been launched and hoped that it would positively affect teaching and learning among students from the basic to the secondary level.
He praised the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CENDLOS, Nana Gyamfi Gyeabour, and the staff of the agency for their hard work leading to the successful launch of the station.
Dr. Adutwum, who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti region, was upbeat that the new station would help telecast the various infrastructure projects and other existing and ongoing projects in the sector.
This, the Minister said, could be done by allowing some teaching of certain lessons on television for the benefit of students.
Dr Adutwum commended the development partners who contributed in diverse ways towards the successful procurement, installation, and conduct of test transmission among others
Dr Adutwum was particularly happy that the station would serve as a good platform to transmit quality instructions to students to improve their academic performances.
He said, “We are building one Ghana where the children of the poor and the rich would have the opportunity to study together to develop their future through the attainment of quality education.”
The Education Minister further urged all Ghanaians to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party on December 7 to continue the good works of the current administration
For his part, the CEO of CENDLOS, Nana Gyamfi Gyeabour, expressed joy at the launch of the station and said it would go a long way to educate as well as entertain students and the general public.
He commended Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum for his exceptional leadership and vision, which led to the incubation of the station as well as the final execution leading to its launch.
The CEO also commended developing partners like Planned International, UNICEF, and CEMFED Ghana, for their support.
