A group calling itself Akyem Kwarbeng Concerned Citizens has risen up against an intended enstoolment of one Addison Kwabena Boateng Nuama whom, according to them is a custodian to the Suuman shrine as the chief of Akyem Kwarbeng.
The group in a short statement expressed dissatisfaction at the initiators of the impending enstoolment and called on the Akyem paramountcy to reconsider the decision since it is against the custom and tradition of the area.
They also appealed to the President for the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional area, Okyehene Osaagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin to see it as a matter of urgency and intervene in the succession of the Akyem Kwarbeng Gyase Stool of the Asona Baba Duamu Family.
According to them, they want to know from the initiators of the Gyase Stool the succession plan and as to whether it is transitionally proper for a brother in law to the late Chief, Nana Dankwa Woe II to take over.
The group also demanded to know if it is prudent and customarily admissible for an Akan Chief’s Son to inherit his father.
The Spokeperson to the group, Nana Asamoah said their position was borne out of the desire to get clear understanding of how the system works for posterity sake adding that the ongoing development has never been heard in the history of Gyase Stool.
