Four Fulani men have been arrested by a team of police force from the National Police Headquarters and Gomoa District Police Command for allegedly breaking into a Cattle ranch in Gomoa Anapensu near Ojobi and stealing 60 Cattle belonging to one Mr. Zakaria Cobbinah, a business man popularly called Zakmus.
The four arrested suspected thieves, Bombay, Yakubu, Haruna and Illiasu according to police sources, have been operating in and around Kweikrom, Anapensu and Ojobi and have been constantly attacking residents in these areas.
The alleged thieves according to the police stormed a Cattle ranch in Gomoa Anapensu and attack the herdsmen and succeeded in carting away 60 Cattle.
Meanwhile, in their operation, they were seen by an eye witness and in sensing danger of being exposed, the group later stormed the eye witness’ residence and butchered him severely.
Taking him for dead, they dumped him in a nearby bush where a Good Samaritan rescued him, took him to the hospital for medical attention.
The matter was however reported to the Gomoa District Police where a police reinforcement was sought from the National Police Headquarters leading to the arrest of the four.
It is believed that most of the alleged thieves are on the run since the 60 stolen Cattle are yet to be traced.
According to the police, the others who are currently in possession of the 60 Cattle may be hiding in Winneba and its surrounding villages, and urged the public to alert the police if they suspect any individual or group of individual with suspicious herds of Cattle.
However, the leader of the group known as Bombay, according to the police has been on the wanted list for long because of his robbery activities.
According to information Bombay has be operating between Ghana and Guinea Bissau hence his arrest came to residents as a great relief.
People living around Kweikrom, Anapensu and Ojobi who have constantly been living in fear of these Fulani criminals, expressed great appreciation to the police for the efforts in arresting them.
In an interview with the owner of the Cattle, Mr. Zakaria Cobbinah he also thanked the Gomoa District Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah, the Director of CID and their men for arresting the criminals.
He urged government to do more for the police because they always put their lives on the line to save the vulnerable in society against these criminals.
Meanwhile, a GHC20.000 bounty is placed on the rest of the suspects, hence the public is urged to relay information about their whereabouts to the police for their arrest.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the police held an identification parade for residents who were able to identify the suspects as the culprits in the attack and robbery of the 60 cattle.
