Intelligence gathered after thorough investigations in the Amansie Central District in the Ashanti region has established that there are numerous illegal mining (galamsey) activities still ongoing in the area.
A visit to most of the mining communities within the District saw some illegal miners busily working on sites.
New Crusading Guide’s findings have established that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency chairman for the Odotobri constituency, Mr. Dominic Kwadwo Bosompim, is behind most of these galamsey activities in the Amansie Central District.
Communities such as Romanso No. 1 , Akokonso, and Fehiakobo, have been taken over by the Chinese galamseyers who were allegedly brought in by Mr. Dominic Kwadwo Bosompim.
During the interactions with some of the opinion leaders and residents of these communities, they disclosed to this paper that the Chinese they know were ushered in to the district by the NPP chairman which according to them they have already paid a Goodwill amount of GHC 100, 000 before agreeing to be allowed to operate as miners.
This development according to some residents is very worrying. They hinted that the policies of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is being sabotaged by his own party members.
It has also been established that there are similar illegal mining activities at Atabrakoso where residents cited the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi, of being the one behind.
According to residents, the NPP Constituency Youth Organizer, Akwasi Foso is supervising for illegal mining activities on behalf of the MP.
The residents also mentioned one Afoakwa who is also the right-hand man of the MP also engaging in the illegal mining activities.
The residents however hailed the DCE for Amansie central, Mr. Stephen Nana Kwame Asamoah Boateng, for fighting illegal mining activities the area since his assumption of office in 2017.
They appealed and encouraged the DCE to continue fighting the galamseyers and should not give them room to operate though some of his own NPP executives in the constituency are against him becomes they are into it.
The residents of Amansie central are appealing to the president of the Republic to task the state security to stop the Odotobri constituency NPP chairman Mr Dominic Kwadwo Bosompim from carrying on further with the illegal mining with the Chinese in the Amansie central district to save the environment.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dominic Kwadwo Bosompim and the MP Mr. Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi, have debunked the claims being peddled by the constituents.
