The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with America’s largest minority-led black-owned technology business, Overland Tandberg.
The MoU seeks to develop seven (7) strategic areas between Ghanaian and U.S tech firms to bridge the digital and diversity divide to attract as many businesses as possible to set up in Ghana.
This includes Overland Tandberg providing GIPC with insights into its technology value chain operations and how it may be helpful to GIPC’s cause as Ghana’s investment promotion agency.
In the coming months, it is expected that the parties will work towards fleshing out the details of the MoU, which details are expected to translate into business ties between Ghanaian and American tech companies and jobs for scores of Ghanaian youths in the tech sector.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Ghanaian government by the CEO of GIPC, Yofi Grant and Chief Executive Officer of TechGulf, Franklin Asare for Overland Tandberg.
The CEO TechGulf, Franklin Asare paid a courtesy call on the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on Tuesday on February 23, 2021, to introduce the new company and its partners.
Members of the delegation included Hagen Maroney (Economic Counsellor, US Embassy), Ayesha Bedwei (Partner PWC and President of American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana), Isobel Afful-Mensah (Country Manager, Tech Hub 27 Holding Limited), Grace Osafo (Human Resource Partner, TechGulf) and Yaa Gyapong (Graduate Intern, TechGulf).
The proprietary Overland Tandberg products include the RDX product family, which is designed to deliver cost efficiency to small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) with growing data storage needs, and the widely used, NEO LTO tape which is recognised as the standard for final data protection processes.
