The Omanhene of Gomoa Assin Traditional Council, formerly known as Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia (II) has called on Nananom to play a major role for peaceful election towards the December 7th elections.
At the inauguration of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council at Gomoa Buduatta , Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia (II) reminded chiefs about the key roles they have to play in ensuring a peaceful election.
According to him, peace can be achieved during elections when nananom assume the responsibility to educate their subjects on peace and admonishing groups within their traditional areas against fomenting trouble.
He touched on the numerous chieftaincy issues and litigations in Gomoa which he said started when the traditional name of Gomoa was changed from Gomoa Assin to Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council.
In an interview, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia appealed to Nananom to think positively by looking for investors to develop the Gomoa State.
Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia also called on the people of Gomoa Assin and Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council to comport themselves and desist from any violent act during and after the Elections.
Meanwhile, the Central East Regional Police commander, DCOP Joseph Owusu Bempah in a statement pledged to maintain peace during and after the Elections and also appealed to Nananom to report criminals in their jurisdictions to police to save lives and properties.
Further, Omankrado of Gomoa Asempanyi, Nana Kumasa Krampah also called on Nananom together and fight against unnecessary teenage Pregnancy and high unemployment rate in Gomoa than fighting among themselves.
