A contender in the flagbearership race of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadjo Nsafoa Poku (KNP), has parried claims that he has conceded to come second after the vice president, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia, in the upcoming super delegates’ congress to elect a presidential candidate for the party.
“Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku (not Nsiah) has not conceded to Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming NPP Flagbearer contest,” he told this paper last Friday.
He intimated that “The supporters of some candidates are beginning to feel the heat and energy of KNP on the ground. NO amount of false information can stop the KNP submarine campaign.”
What has been twisted and being bandied about was KNP discussion about his strategy for the Super Delegates conference on Fox Fm, Kumasi, where he said he was gathering intelligence on the weakness of those pollsters and researchers say, are the lead contenders in the flagbearer race, and capitalise on it to shore up his votes.
“I have never said I will come second to anybody, be it Alan Kyeremanten or Dr. Bawumia. I won’t play second-fiddle to any of them. Otherwise, my am I in the contest,” KNP quizzed.
“We did a survey online, and Dr. Bawumia was first, Alan second, and I came third. If you look at the two candidates, I must work to catch up with them. I must see their weakness and strength and work on those to beat them.”, the NPP flagbearership hopeful told host, Sir John.
Mr. Kwadwo Poku Nsiah indicated that “If we talk about household recognition in terms of impact on the ground, Alan and Bawumia they’ll get more votes than me but i am on a sumarine campaign and i know by the time we go for the super delegate congress i will be ahead and win.”
KNP is therefore urging his supporters to remain resolute and campaign more for him to become the flagbearer after their super delegates congress.
