A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Kusi Boafo, has denied claims of endorsing Kennedy Agyapong as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.
According to him, he attended Kennedy Agyapong’s event because it was an NPP event, and he attended as an elder of the party.
He says on the day, he spoke about unity in the party and the need for everyone to come on board as the party fights for power in the 2028 elections.
Kusi Boafo denied claims of endorsing Kennedy Agyapong for the flagbearer role in the political party.
“Kennedy Agyapong came to my constituency, and I was invited to join the meeting. So I went to the event, and I was asked to speak to the delegates and people who were at the meeting. I spoke extensively on unity because that is how we can get power back in 2028. I did not endorse the candidacy of Kennedy Agyapong,” he told the media in an interview.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will, on January 31, 2026, vote for the party’s flagbearer
The political party intends to elect other officers after the flagbearer race because of the tension surrounding the election.
