A call has been made to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to, immediately to ensure the transfer of Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor from his current duty police.
Family members of 47-year-old Numo Ayitey Konko V of James Town under Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area including youth citizens and residents of James Town make this foregoing call to IGP.
They, therefore, accused DCOP DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor of allegedly fueling chieftaincy dispute at Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area, hence their current call on IGP to transfer this senior police officer.
According to the elders, they were blaming DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor for being the brain behind the chieftaincy dispute at the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area because instead of DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor ensuring law and order in the arrea, he rather has chosen to be imposing Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye on them to accord him the legitimate Paramount chief of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool, Jamestown.
They argued that DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor cannot or don’t have chieftaincy capacity to decide who to be installed to ascend the throne of Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool, James Town.
They pointed out that the current action being taken by DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor to support the purpurted installation of Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye under the so-called stool Obrempong Wetse Kojo II, is completely lawlessness and criminal and called for the transfer of DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor.
They stressed the need for Inspector General General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to warn DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor to stop fueling chieftaincy disputes in Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area of the Ga State.
The elders of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Stool are attributing the chieftaincy crisis in the James State to police and political interference by some persons in current government, warning that they should stopped supporting Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye as chief of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area because nobody recognize him with such position.
Subsequently, the elders called on politicians to stop interfering in James Town Paramount stool chieftaincy matters, saying: “The James Town Paramount Stool knows no political colour and we would want that position to be respected by the government and its operatives. We want the government to respect the James Town, the Ga State and the James Town people.”
The elders pointed out that pockets of evidence available have revealed that Numo Ayitey Konko V when he is alive has petitioned the offices of DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor, Greater Regional House of Chiefs and police top hierarchy after some violent thugs have secretly attacked and beaten him to pulp.
Addressing a crowded press conference in Accra on Saturday September 28, 2028, the elders blamed the James Town District Police Station, DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor, Greater Regional House of Chiefs and police top hierarchers for their negligence that had contributed to kill of the Numo Ayitey Konko by the violent thugs.
“We are putting accusing fingers squarely at three key institutions which are the National House of Chiefs, and the Ghana Police Service for the killing of Numo Ayitey Konko..We are accusing these institutions for prioritizing selfish interests over the safety and well-being of the people.
“We are criticizing the National House of Chiefs for failing to use their influence to address long-standing tensions and chieftaincy dispute in James. We couldn’t fathom the National House of Chiefs had failed to effectively consult the accredited and principal elders of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Stool before giving gazette to an impoter chief Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye who is now parading as legitimate Paramount chief of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool. Now look at the king of disgrace Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye has brought to Ghana.
“These thugs have killed our Ngleshie Alata Traditional Stool Chief Priest, Numo Ayitey Konko V. In our tradition and customs it is only Numo Ayitey Konko who has authority or capacity to perform the necessary rituals to install a credible person to ascend Ngleshie Alata Traditional Paramount stool. So Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye who is parading himself as a legitimate Paramount chief of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool has been installed by Numo Ayitey Konko,” elders stated.
They indicated that the police didn’t take the killing of their highest priest [Numo Ayitey Konko) seriously because when they have officially reported this heartbreaking incident to the Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters, they were surprised that it took the police administration for four hours to deploy its officers to the crime scene in his house.
According to the elders, the death of Numo Ayitey Konko could have been prevented if the top police hierarchers should have attacked seriously to the several complaints made to them by the late Numo Ayitey Konko on the death threats ensued on his life by the hired thugs.
For his part, Samuel Ayitey, a Junior brother of murdered Ngleshie Alata Stool Chief Priest noted that they are demanding for an immediate justice for the gruesome murder of Ngleshie Alata Stool Chief Priest, Numo Ayitey Konko.
Samuel Ayitey told journalists that he was shocked when the DCOP Mr. Arhin Kwasi Annor personally declared to him that it is only Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye whom he knows as a gazzeted legitimate Paramount chief of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool under Stool name Obrempong Wetse Kojo II.
He indicated that his senior brother being the traditional and customary Chief priest of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Paramount Royal Stool declated to thd elders and people of James Town in Accra that he didn’t recognize Dr Quaye as a legitimate installed Paramount chief.
He noted that Numo Ayitey Konko V declared his traditional stand against installation of Dr Quaye, clarifying his position or stance that his installation has been endorsed by him (Numo Ayitey Konko V because it has been performed through illegal and unlawfully means hence he warned Dr Quaye to stop parading himself as the chief of the area.
The development, according to Samuel Ayitey, has argued Dr Quaye to allegedly hire the services of some violent thugs to beat up Numo Ayitey Konko V some time ago, making Numo Ayitey Konko V to petition Ghana Police Service administration to blow an alarm over the several death threats he has been receiving from Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye and his hired thugs.
The two page letter in possession of this news outlet reads in part; “I Numo Ayitey Konko, the Stool Priest of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area write to petition the Head of Police Intelligence and Professional Standards (PIPS) of the Ghana Police Service.
The letter indicated that on December 19, 2021, some members of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area petitioned the Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service against CID Dompreh, then stationed at the James Town District Police Station, who had refused to invite Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye and Nii Appiah.
The letter asserted that the petitioneers
were invited by one Sergeant Latif to meet CID Dompreh at the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra or to investigate the matter.
The letter said after the investigation, the police noticed that the case was reported to the James Town District Police Station but no action has been taken till date.
The letter pointed out that the Sergeant Latif requested from the petitioneers to bring any evidence to support the case.
The letter indicated that the petitioneers led by Numo Ayitey Konko V again net Sergeant Latif with a pendrive video of the crime scene and took his statement.
The letter added that the said Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye and Nii Appiah on several occasions publicly say no police can arrest him.
The letter pointed out that the case reported at the James Town District Police Station was that Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye and Nii Appiah with thugs og land-guards broke into the sacred Stool room of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Palace on February 15, 2018.
The letter contended In that, I Numo Ayitey Konko recently was attacked again by Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye with his thug of land-guards with guns threatened to kill me anytime.
“That my life has been in danger with a lot of death threats from these violent people who working for Dr Prince Asharku-Bruce Quaye and l want to believe that if case l have lost my life today then l have no one to be.blamed but the Ghana Police Service,’ part of the petition of Numo Ayitey Konko petition reads.
However, his junior brother noted that for look of this they have realised that the police didn’t want to them justice.
“We want to tell the government of Ghana that it seems that the police officers of Ghana Police Service and other key state security regulatory agencies are not giving us justice.
” So this time has reached for us to come with our justice over this case because the James Town gun shooting incident resulting to the killing of Numo Ayitey Konko V would forever be etched in the collective memory of the people in the community,” the visibly distraught Samuel Ayitey told journalists at the press conference held in Accra on Saturday September 28,2024.
A 47-year-old Numo Ayitey Konko V who has left six children behind was shot dead by unknown assailants around 7:15 AM on Friday September 27, 2025 in front of his private house at the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council buiding near the Mantse Abona Park at James Town in Accra.
The gruesome murder of Numo Ayitey Konko has brought total discomfort to his children, elders, wives, friends, chiefs, queenmothers, traditional priests and priestesses, including the residents and citizens of the community as they continue to live in fear and panic.
Numo Ayitey Konko was reported to have been killed through a snipe shot from the window of the building of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council.
Credible sources, coupled with the evidence from the elders of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Paramount Stool have revealed that Numo Ayitey Konko has been shot death by gun.
However, so far the perpetrators of this heinous crime have been arrested by the police.
