The Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, Seth Kwame Antwi Boasiako, has been accused of ordering the police to stop the legitimate Chief of the Kade Traditional Area from attending a national event in the area.
The MCE, who is by law, serves as the representative of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in the area made sure that the Chief who had been assigned to deliver a speech at the inaugural ceremony was stopped by the police for what he termed as an order from above.
The action by the MCE and the police resulted in a serious riot between the youth of Kade and the security personnel for hours. In ensuring peace on the day, additional security personnel were deployed to ensure peace at the ceremony.
Expressing his worry of the sudden incidence, the Kade Chief, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II, described the action by the MCE and the Police as unlawful.
The Chief noted that the action by the MCE will not bring to the area but would rather negatively affect the already existed peace among the people in Kade.
“As a law abiding citizen it took me over an hour to convince my Elders and the teeming youth of Kade to avoid putting the law into their own hands by retaliating to the unlawful actions against me by the MCE and the police officials” he stated.
Osabarima Tenadu II described the MCE’s attitude as a total gross disrespect to his chieftaincy status, which hitherto would negatively affect the development and well as the peace and unity among the good people in the town.
According to the Traditional leader, since the appointment of the MCE by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he has for some time arrogantly failed to recognize him as the customarily install chief of the area.
The Chief further accused the MCE of avoiding his real job but rather meddling in the chieftaincy affairs in the area.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the Kwaebibirem MCE debunked all the allegations, saying that he was only in office to work but not interfere in any traditional affairs in the area.
