The entire residents of Kwahu -Nkwatia of Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region created an earthquake and historic crowd epic to welcome Nana Dwamina Afum III the newly enstooled Benkumhene of Kwahu-Nkwatia.
The teeming crowd, the majority of which was made up of the youth within the area, were in a huge jubilant mood as they carried the newly enstooled chief for the Benkum Division of the Kwahu-Nkwatia on shoulder-high to parade the principal streets of the area.
The ceremony which took place on Saturday brought people from all walks of life including politicians, business moguls, clergy and traditional leaders from and outside the serene and beautiful Kwahu ridge.
It was a beautiful scene to behold as the rich Ghanaian heritage was showcased through the beautiful rhythm and non-verbal communication of fontomfrom, timely movement of the legs and hands of adowa dance, songs and dresses.
In his maiden interview with the media, the newly enstooled Benkumhene of Kwahu-Nkwatia Nana Dwamina Afum III called on people of Kwahu-Nkwatia both home and abroad and all well-meaning investors to divert their attention to Kwahu-Nkwatia.
Benkumhene who is a business mogul and known in private life as Mr. Isaac Kwadwo Afum hinted that quality security and serene environment are some elements that create conduciveness which Kwahu-Nkwatia is noted for.
The Benkumhene who is also the Asona Saforo Wadie Abusuahene hinted that the strong business mindset of Kwahus is a clear demonstration of how the people of the area value and create a conducive business environment.
The Kwahu-Nkwatia Benkumhene and Asona Saforo Wadie Abusuahene have indicated his readiness and commitment with the mutual support of other chiefs in the area to make lands available to any person or group of people who want to invest in the area.
He further touched on education as the principal constructs of his mission and vision for the area since education unlocks arguably everything and therefore a catalyst for economic and social freedom.
Nana Afum III called on all traditional leaders in the area to give peace and unity a priority towards the holistic development of the Kwahu Traditional Area.
The chief of Kwahu-Nkwatia Nana Boamah Ayirepe II admonished the new Benkumhene of the area to eschew all manners of events which have the tendencies to sow any possible seed of misunderstanding among his elders.
According to him, the chieftaincy ecosystem is a revered and noble position but full of challenges which are summonable through team work, mutual respect that underpin tradition and culture.
He called on Nana Dwamina Afum III to understand and appreciate his duties as the left-wing chief for the traditional area and desist from overlapping and crisscrossing of duties which could bring misunderstanding.
Nana Boamah Ayirepe II appealed to his left-wing chief not to let down his elders and members of his family who have demonstrated huge confidence in him and further called on the members of the family to continue to support him.
He continued that, the chieftaincy institution is not an event but a process of learning and it therefore calls for humility and readiness to learn through others including even his elders and members of the family.
The chief of Kwahu-Nkwatia expressed grave gratitude to the family for presenting a noble man like Nana Dwamina Afum III and indicated that, the family appointment and further confirmation as the Benkumhene of Nkwatia is the beginning of development for the people of the area.
