Article 69(11) of the Constitution, 1992 provides:
“The resolution for the removal from office of the President shall be by a secret ballot and shall be taken to be approved by Parliament if supported by the votes of not less than two-thirds of all the members of Parliament after prior debate.”
Grandstanding is allowed. Playing to the gallery is allowed. But any suggestion that the Minority in Parliament is capable of marshalling two-thirds of all members of Parliament to remove President Akufo-Addo from office is fanciful and a waste of everybody’s time. They couldn’t even impeach former Finance Minster Ken Ofori-Atta. What makes them think they can impeach President Akufo-Addo? Let’s get serious.
