So if an LGBT+ person is arrested, prosecuted and convicted for identifying as LGBT+, have his photos published in mainstream media and on social media, thrown into a stinking jail, and then the Supreme Court later rules that the law is unconstitutional, you want to tell me that no irreparable damage would have been caused to that person because the State will pay him financial compensation? How much? A billion dollars? When he can’t even rent a place because he is gay and your unconstitutional law would have exposed him to stigmatisation and violence and possible mob attack?
Which police service can be trusted to solve the case of the murder of a gay person when they can’t find the killers of Ahmed Suale, whose identity was published to achieve exactly what happened to him? You say that would not be irreparable damage caused, and so the President should assent to your Bill in spite of a court process that has been served on you to stop exactly that and the consequences thereof? I beg your pardon!
