The Methodist Church, Ghana, has honoured the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie, and two others for their huge contributions towards the construction of the headquarters of the church, the Wesley Towers.

Naa Torshie and the other two, Solomon Nuamah, a businessman in Kumasi, and Madam Grace Boison, were honoured on Thursday, November 30, 2023, inside the Wesley Towers, as part of a regular end-of-month programme for Reverend Ministers and their spouses.

Located at Ridge in Accra, the 14-storey building is an ultra-modern office complex that the church has put up to facilitate its coordination across the country.

Briefing the gathering about the honours, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Right Reverand Dr. Paul K. Boafo, said the executives deemed it right to show appreciation to donors.

The contributions of the three who were honoured on Thursday were in the form of cash and furniture.

He narrated how the three willingly offered to contribute to the building and expressed the gratitude of the church, as well as God’s blessings for them.

He said, “To all three of them, just by word of conversation, they were touched to come in and to support us in getting this facility to where it is.”

The Presiding Bishop continued that, “The Executives thought it right to do honours to some of our benefactors. Those who have, from their hearts, made contributions towards this facility”

The presiding bishop said that the church would continue to honour in series all those who have made contributions towards the payment of the cost of constructing the building and keep their names in the church’s archives.

“But today, the last day of the month of November, in the year of our Lord, 2023, we are here to honour Hon. Irene Naa Torshie,” Mr. Solomon Nuamah and Mrs. Grace Boison mentioned.

A gold-plated design of the Wesley Towers was presented to Naa Torshie, with the Presiding Bishop explaining it as the symbol of the church’s appreciation to her and for her to see and remember the edifice.

In very brief remarks, the Administrator of the DACF, Naa Torshie, dedicated the honour to her mother, who accompanied her to the event, as well as her daughter and some close friends.

She explained that her mother had been a strong pillar in her Christian life, nurturing her with the teachings of methodism. He indicated that though she had drifted to another church, Methodist was still her home.

She urged the church to practice a maintenance culture for the facility while advocating for more support to run and care for the Wesley Towers.

“I want to encourage all of you. The edifice is beautiful and big, but it needs to be maintained. We can’t stop where we started. We need to continue,” she urged others to contribute to support the church.
