Following New Crusading GUIDE’s publication on Tuesday which revealed that there was no judge at the Family and Juvenile Court A, it has emerged that there is no judge at the Family and Juvenile Court C because the presiding judge, Benedine Senu, has been transferred elsewhere.
This means only Court B, which is presided over by Justice Mathilda Ribeiro, is operational out of the three Family and Juvenile courts in Accra.
The development has stalled ongoing cases concerning access and custody of children but there is no end in sight as to when a substantive judge would be appointed.
It would be recalled that the New Crusading GUIDE reported on Tuesday, 26th October 2021 that there is no judge at the Family and Juvenile Court A because the presiding judge Nancy Adade, is currently on maternity leave.
But the replacement judge is yet to take over affairs at the court with sources at the court registry indicating that the incoming justice may have also tended in a letter for annual leave.
Sources at the court say the Judicial Secretary has been formally notified about the present situation. Our attempts at contacting the latter has so far proved futile.
The development has led to cases being adjourned at two-week intervals while parties to cases are frustrated about what they call a lack of progress and action on their cases. Many of the latter cases border on child welfare and support.
