The ruling New Patriotic Party’s preparations towards the Parliamentary primaries this weekend is heightening tension among contestants and delegates across the country.
One constituency that is of much interest to many is Akuapem South in the Eastern Region where the incumbent MP, and Minister of State at the Local Government Minister, Osei Bonsu (O.B) Amoah stepped down from the contest this week .
This leaves three competitors in the race, that’s Eric Yeboah Apeadu, Anor Yeboah and Kwame Gyau.
However, a visit to the Constituency by this reporter reveals that Eric Yeboah Apeadu has taken the lead as regards the most preferred candidate of the delegates. He is regarded as the most preferred to lead the constituency ahead of the contest and receiving incredible support from the delegates.
In an interaction with Mr. Amos Fianko, an Assistance Constituency Secretary, he noted that the best candidate to replace the incumbent MP, O.B Amoah, should be Eric ic Yeboah Apeadu.
He described Eric Apeadu as a grassroot person who could win the parliamentary seat for the NPP and also increase the party’s presidential votes in the general elections.
“Eric Yeboah Apeadu has contributed immensely towards the success of the party for years, and we trust him to be the best person to lead the party in the main elections,” he stated.
He noted that Eric Apeadu is well-known within the Constituency.
The Deputy Constituency Organizer, Isaacs Boateng Kwafo also described Eric Apeadu as a democratic leader who enjoys sharing ideas aimed at achieving goals l.
He declared that they are ready to vote for Eric Apeadu to be elected as the party’s PC in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
“Eric Apeadu has been tried and tested for years, and we are therefore poised to help him continue his great exploits in the party and for the good people of Akuapem South,” he stated.
