The Osu Kinkawe Dzaase and it’s principal Elders has released a statement to the press to utterly rubbish a purported installation of Osu Mantse in the aftermath of the demise of NiiKinka Dowuona VI whose funeral rites are yet to be performed.
Couple of weeks ago, a certain Oklemekuku who is Head of Family for Teinor We’ in conjunction with Nii Kwabena Bonne V(OsuAlataMantse) and NuumoGbelenfo(GuaWulomo) had performed some kind of rites to install a new Chief in aberration to all the norms and cultural values of the people of Osu Traditional area.
In the statement signed by the Osu Dzaase, it completely rubbished the purported installation describing it as despicable and irresponsible act targeted at disorganizing and disturbing the peace processes that is almost near achievement.
It said, “we want to put on record and make it categorically clear that a new Osu Mantse has not been installed by the Osu Kinkawe Dzaase, the accredited Dzaase with the sole mandate and authority to install and ensure that the rightful person is duly installed for the good people of ofOsu”.
The Osu Dzaase explained that the Osu Mantse position is the exclusive preserve of two Royal Houses which are the Owuo We Royal House (Principal Royal House) and the Dowuona We Royal House (as the second ruling house) and that by dictate of the Osu tradition and customs the immediate past Osu Mantse had come from the Dowuona We Royal House and therefore the mantle automatically falls on the Owuo We Royal House to present a candidate to be installed as OsuMantse.
By tradition, it’s only these two royal houses who can provide a candidate to be installed as Osu Mantse to sit on the Black Stool called ‘Sei Kwame’ and no other person or Quarter within the Osu Traditional area can twist the esteemed Traditions and customs of the good people of Osu.
It further stated that “this attempt by persons who have arrogated powers to themselves to disrupt our ancient customs and tradition is mischievous and same is aimed at satisfying their parochial interest and frivolous agenda and therefore the purported installation should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
The statement indicated saying; “the Osu Dzaase is presently preoccupied with preparations toward the funeral and burial of the Nii OkweiKinka Dowuona VI which will take place soon. Thereafter, the Osu Kinkawe Dzaase led by Nii Saban Atsen VII will do the needful by following due process to install the next Osu Mantse.”
The Dzaase also assured the President of the Republic and all stakeholders that they will work with Owuo We Royal family to ensure that the nomination and selection process will be fair and transparent to allow for right person to be installed as the next Osu Mantse to avoid future litigations.
