The grassroots members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Cape Coast North constituency, are demanding for the replacement of their MCE, Hon. Ernest Arthur.
They have thus appealed to the president H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reject any attempt by any regional or national official to suggest to him, the re-appointment of the sitting Metropolitan Chief Executive (M.C.E) for Cape Coast, Hon. Ernest Arthur.
“We will vehemently resist any attempt of such nature. For us to break the eight is not by words but by our deeds, hard work and God’s favour,” they noted.
According to them, Hon. Ernest Arthur contributed to the defeat of their member of parliament (MP), Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi and that the MCE ceased almost all correspondents relating to central government and the assembly’s projects which were being undertaken in Cape Coast North with the MP then.
In a Press Release, the Group noted that the MCE over concentrated on Cape Coast South due to his ambition to become the MP there.
“We are not against anyone’s political ambition. However, this led to the total neglect of Cape Coast north. His intolerant nature caused the party dearly in both constituencies. He uses abusive language and insults anyone when he feels irked by the least provocation.”
They also accused the MCE of abusing the workers of the assembly leading to disaffection for the party.
“With his poor human relation, if care is not taken and he is given the mantle again, we might lose our presidential votes come 2024. When it comes to party unity, the MCE has caused serious disunity among party members, especially Cape Coast South.”
The grassroots members also indicated that the MCE has never attended a single executive meeting of Cape Coast North which clearly shows his neglect of the party.
Also, they pointed out that there were no collaboration whatsoever with the executives of these constituencies to execute the agent of the government.
“Selfishness does not grow a party; however our MCE has exhibited such. Discrimination and vindictiveness of party members is the order of the day. We would like to state as a matter of fact that, the MCE still harbors his MP ambition and when given the second chance, will do worse things to further bring the party down.”
They appealed to the President and the regional party to choose the next MCE from Cape Coast North since the South has had its fair share, adding that, Cape Coast North is the major revenue contributor to the assembly.
