Details have started emerging about the activities of a Liberian and Russian ‘kill team’ that has sneaked in Ghana and are harassing their preys and their families in their homes at midnight.
The New Crusading GUIDE intelligence revealed the Liberian especially; sneaked into the country under the guise of running an e-commence company, only to, with the help of some supposed influence peddlers, recruit street boys to be collecting debts on behave of foreigners who have businesses in the country.
Their modus operandi is to collect all the necessary details about their target from their foreign clients, then storm the prey’s house at midnight with local junkies and treat boys to collect the debt, and ‘penalties.’
They also trail their targets where ever they go amidst threats by text that they would harm their families should they delay in paying their debt.
In one of their operations for instance, the Liberian sent a text message to his Ghanaian target (name withheld) which read that “You have 2days to arrange payment in full,30k wich includes all processed amount and some extra as a penalties..unless you want to face real troubles involving your family members(sic)”.
Moreso, on the table of the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DCOP Faustina Andoh-Kwofie, is a letter dated 26 January, 2024, detailing how one of the ‘kill team’ members assigned boys from a slum community to his residence at midnight to physically attack him in the presence of his family.
It took the timely the timely intervention of the Adentan Police to intervene and invite the parties to the Police Station for further interrogation.
Meanwhile security experts have caution that such developments are not healthy for the country especially, given that it is an election year.
“Are the police aware and what is the role of immigration, is there a disconnect between all the security apparatus? This a national security issue that needs to be addressed by the IGP, EOCO, CID, NIB or one of the agencies. Are we at peace if enforcers from other countries are roaming about freely with the backing of so called local big men. This is an election year, how strong is our security?” one of the security experts quizzed.
Stay tuned.
