Ace broadcaster Kwami Sefa Kayi has been adjudged the Best Journalist of the Year at the 22nd Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.
The multiple award-winning Host of Peace FM’s Flagship programme ‘Kokrokoo’ won the overall best award for his hard work, neutrality and guiding principle of integrity.
Mr. Sefa Kayi, affectionately called ‘Chairman General’, has over the years stood peerless and is aided by a reputable production team.
Aside being behind the microphone daily to execute his journalistic mandate, putting the government and leaders of the nation on their toes as well as educating and informing the general public on national issues; ‘Chairman General’ has also
been spearheading an initiative to prevent neonatal deaths and save lives of preterm babies in the country.
His Kokrokoo Charities Foundation has initiated a project under the theme “Project 100 incubators” aimed at raising funds for the purchase of 100 incubators needed in Neonatal Intensive Care Units to be distributed to hospitals across the country.
The team has so far dispatched about 10 incubators at various hospitals and launched a short code 3322 on any MTN network for people to dial and donate towards the project.
Also at the 22nd GJA Awards held on Wednesday at the State Banquet Hall, Peace FM’s Flagship programme ‘Kokrokoo’ was adjudged the Best Radio Morning Show of the year.
Peace FM’s ‘Asomdwe Nkomo’ programme hosted by Nana Yaa Konadu also won the Best Radio Programme (Akan).
UTV also won the Best TV Station in Political reporting.
