A former Ghana Ambassador to Belgium, Harriet Sena Siaw-Boateng(Mrs.), who allegedly returned to the country on the blind side of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Ministry, has popped up at the National Security Secretariat, giving orders no end.
All the while, since she returned from her base in Belgium, security insiders say she had been there on the quiet until power changed and the new administration headed by President John Dramani Mahama, as part of his commitment to reduce ministries to 60 scrapped the Ministry, appointing only a national Security Coordinator.
“Sena Siaw-Boateng has, out of the blue, become so powerful this short period, dictating what happens at the place, choosing and directing who goes where, at a time appointees of the previous government are being fired everywhere,” National Security sources familiar with her attitude told this paper.
It is unclear what has made her so influential but some have attributed her background as a person from a region, where those who hail from there are often linked to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
It appears she feels even safer and well protected under the Mahama government than the one that first appointed her, perhaps due to marriage or political ties with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
What is raising questions is her sudden change of attitude, putting a lot of the staff there on tenterhooks. The staff, this portal is learning, go to work not knowing what is in store for them.
Interestingly, all this is happening at a time the Foreign Ministry’s official document states that it does not know where the ex-Ambassador is.
The document sighted and coming from the Ministry lists various appointees, their grade, and current institutions except Mrs. Siaw-Boateng.
The list containing five names mentioned that the appointees categorize them as either on secondment or on special duties.
Mrs Siaw-Boateng had in front of her name written (Grade) Ambassador, but the space for her current office appeared blank.
Stay tune.
