This paper can confirm that ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor, Director of Police Intelligence & Professional Standard Bureau (Pips) who is alleged to have forcefully taken over a parcel of land at East Legon in Accra, continues to intimidate the lawful owner to the said property.
The said police commander was reported to have led a group of land guards under the supervision of some police personnel from her office to demolish properties belonging to one Deborah Banahene at East Legon without any Court Order.
The New Crusading Guide which broke the news of the demolition, was taken aback to see the Pips Director fast developing the property amid intimidating the rightful owner of the land.
This paper has gathered that, ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor is using her position and authority to harass the owner of the said land, threatening her with police brutalities as she stations armed police officers on the land to supervise the ongoing construction.
A visit to the site revealed workers earnestly working on the land under heavily-armed police personnel obviously sent by ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor.
In order to prevent the land owner, Deborah Banahene from having access to her land, ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor and her assigns erected a structure to block the entrance to Deborah Banahene’s house. This is also to prevent her, Deborah Acqua from monitoring the ongoing activities on her property.
It has been established however that Madam Deborah Banahene acquired the land in 1996 from the Ashong Mlitse Family of The Odaitei Tse We of Teshie Accra and after buying the land, she divided it into two parts and built a house on part of it in 1998 and left the rest for future use.
She also acquired indenture over the land in the year 2000, and around the year 2005.
It emerged that soon after acquiring the indenture, another family came forward with a court order that they had won a case against the first family, and that they own the land.
Madam Deborah Banahene had to pay the said family again for the same parcel of land and in 2013 she was approached and claimed that the land belonged to Ibrahim Mahama.
Information revealed that, upon the confrontation, Ibrahim Mahama asked Deborah Banahene to evacuate the land at the time she was working on her documentation.
In the process of her working on the registration of the land at the Lands Commission, it was made known to her that Ibrahim Mahama had registered the land under his name and given it to ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor.
Deborah Acquah took the issue to Accra Regional headquarters, and Enoch Francis Anom (The head of the family who sold the land to her) after she was informed that the land belongs to Ibrahim Mahama.
She took the issue to court so they could change the name on the title to her name.
However, ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor went to Deborah Banahene’s lawyer several times to ask her to sell her land to her but she was not successful with her demands.
ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor then decided to use intimidation and aggression to take the land away from Deborah Banahene because she claims she is in possession of the Title.
ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor somewhere last week, brought police officers to the land and destroyed the house belonging to Deborah Banahene
Documents including an indenture and Lease Agreement revealed that the said land was leased by Enoch Francis Annan Acquah to by Head and Lawful representation of Okpong We family of Tesihe to Deborah Banahene.
