The chief of Aworasa in the Akyem Abuakwa traditional council, Barima Pobi Asomani II, has warned people who have encroached on lands in Aworasa and surrounding communities to give up their quest or face his wrath.
He alsocautioned potential land buyers to be careful of the activities of these land sellers and land guards who go round seizing farmlands illegally in his area.
Barima Pobi, Asomani II made this known at a press conference in Asamankese in the lower West Akyem municipality yesterday.
Barima Pobi Asomani in a statement said ‘sincemy enstoolment20 years ago nobody has challenged me over land ownership until recently when these people from Akwapim – Aseseso made that attempt. They are now making attempts to encroach on a piece of land measuring about 100acres in my jurisdiction’.
According to him, the encroachers have destroyed almost all rubber trees on the land which were inherited from their forefathers. Barimah Pobi II together with the Asamankese police visited the site to apprehend some of the encroachers.
He accused one Kwasi Obeng, who poses as Asamankese chief as being the leaders and behind the destruction of properties and illegal sale ofland to unidentified people.
He explained further that farmer on the land pays their land titles to the stool lands, the municipal Assembly, Okyehene and his elders accordingly.
Barima Pobi Asomani ii in his remarks appealed to the government, national security, NIB, minister of Chieftaincy, IGP and other stakeholders to tame theself-acclaimed Asamankese chief to bring peace to the area.
