Some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Suhum in the Eastern Region are calling on President Nana Akufo-Addo to not nominate Margaret DarkoDarkwa as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) again.
According to the irate party members, the MCE is not in good terms with some NPP constituency executives including the chairman and other grassroots members of the party, leading to breaking of the front of the elephant family.
The irate leaders also expressed worry over the lack of development in the municipality leading to despondency among the youth in the area.
Speaking to the media at Suhum on Monday, Prince Antwi, a Polling Station Youth Organiser, said: “President Akufo-Addo must nominate a different person because the MCE has not brought any serious development, the roads are bad and the youth are in despair, she must go for Suhum to develop.”
“I remember the 2020 campaign, the woman couldn’t set foot at some towns in the Municipality because of lack of development such as water and roads, the people even said if she had come, they would not have listened to us,” he added.
Again he said, a Communications Team Member of the NPP and Polling Station Youth Organiser, popularly known as Obama, said the MCE had issues with the constituency chairman which culminated in the leaked tape saga which became at radio station ‘football match’ which in the end dented the image of the party.
He also appealed to President Akufo-Addo not to re-nominate the current MCE for unity to prevail in the party.
He decried the lack of development in the area and called for a radical change.
“Her relationship with the party executives is very bad. No development: The President comes from Kyebi and passes through Suhum, but look at our roads, things must change,” he said.
When reporters made attempts to reach the MCE to respond to the allegations, they were unsuccessful as several calls to her phone were not successful.
